The XAT is an entrance test conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur, one of the top-ranked premium B-schools in India. The XAT is one of the largest pen-and-paper based entrance tests in India.

XAT scores are accepted for admission to XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, XISS, XIME, IMT Ghaziabad, and other well reputed B schools. Click here to view the list of B-schools that accept XAT scores.

Eligibility

Candidates must have a recognised Bachelor's degree of minimum three years' duration in any discipline or should have completed their graduation by the month of June.

Test mode: Paper based
Conducted: January, held once a year.
Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes (Part 1: 2 hours 40 min | Part 2 (General Awareness): 40 mins)
Marking scheme: Equal marks for every question. (1 mark)
Negative marking: As per the latest notification, a student can skip up to a total of 13 questions in the first 3 sections. Beyond this every skipped question will attract a penalty of 0.05 marks per question. In other words, you need to attempt a minimum of 65 questions out of 78 to avoid negative marking. Also, GK questions will not have negative marking.

NMAT: Narsee Monjee Management Aptitude Test

Till 2015, NMAT was the MBA entrance exam conducted by the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) admission to their MBA program in Mumbai and in other campuses. In 2015, it was acquired by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council which owns and conducts the GMAT). After the acquisition, other institutes have also announced that they will accept NMAT scores.

Eligibility

Graduate from any recognised/statutory university or institute with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Programs that require specific discipline or subject specialisation need to be checked for eligibility as given by the respective institute. A candidate who has completed qualifying degree from any foreign university must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Candidates need to get all foreign degrees/qualifications verified by the AIU before seeking admission to any program of SIU. The Evaluation Division of the AIU issues equivalence certificate for foreign degrees/qualifications.

IIFT is the entrance exam for securing admission to the IIFT, a deemed-university. The test is conducted as an autonomous entrance examination across various centres in India. IIFT is the only institute among the top 10 Indian business schools that offers a full time program – MBA in International Business (IB).

Eligibility

Candidates must have a recognised Bachelor's degree of minimum three years' duration in any discipline. Candidates appearing for their final year examination of graduation can also apply (subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by October). There is no age limit for the IIFT test.

The MAT is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA). Started in 1988, the MAT is a standardised test for admission to several MBA and allied programmes, and was approved as a national level test by the HRD Ministry of the Government of India in 2003.

TISS-NET: Entrance test for Tata Institute of Social Sciences

TISSNET is conducted for admission to programs offered by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). TISSNET scores are accepted only by TISS, at campuses in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tuljapur and Guwahati.

The management program at TISS for which the TISSNET scores are accepted is MA in Human Resource Management & Labour Relations, conducted at the Mumbai campus.

Eligibility

Bachelor's Degree of minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognised university, in any discipline.

Pass Class in the Bachelor's Degree pursued by the applicant will be considered for determining the eligibility of candidates. Those in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree program who have not passed in all the courses (main/major/subsidiary, etc.) of the first and second years (if the degree is of 3 years duration) and first, second and third years (if the degree is of 4 years duration) on the day of applying for the program are not eligible to apply to any of the Master's Degree programs offered by the Institute.

Candidates who have been declared failed in the final year examination are not eligible to apply for any of the Master's Degree programs of the institute, unless they pass their Bachelor's Degree examination on the day of applying for any of the programs.

Eligibility, once determined on the basis of the information given by the candidates in the application form, shall be final for the purpose of test/interview/selection. In case it is found that the information furnished by a candidate is incorrect or misleading or ineligibility being detected before or after the test/interview/selection/admission, his/her candidature will be cancelled.

If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year of his/her Bachelor's Degree examination and even if he/she has re-evaluation at the university/college, he/she will not be allowed to continue the program as the offer of provisional admission stands automatically cancelled on his/her failure in the final year examination.

IBSAT: ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test

The ISBAT is a national level entrance examination for admission to MBA programme of ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad. From 2015, IBS has also started accepting NMAT scores for its admission process.

As per the selection process of IBSAT, candidates who have qualified in the IBSAT, GMAT, CAT or NMAT (conducted by the GMAC) with valid scores are called for the final admission process to be held at IBS Hyderabad in February. The selection process comprises Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Eligibility

  • Graduation (any discipline) with at least 50% marks (as calculated by the respective universities) with medium of instruction as English.
  • All applicants should have completed a minimum of 15 years of education (on 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 basis).
  • Candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria of English medium in graduation have to submit the TOEFL/ NELT/ IELTS score by May 31, 2016.
  • Applicants in their final year bachelor’s degree course are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their graduation requirements (including practical examinations / viva / assignments) before May 31, 2016. The admission will remain provisional until they produce marks sheets and degree certificates establishing their eligibility. The last date for submission of proof of graduation is November 01, 2016.
  • Eligibility criteria will be checked from August, 2016 onwards. Hence, the onus of ensuring that they satisfy the eligibility criteria rests solely with the candidates.
