SET (BBA) 2017 Analysis

Symbiosis International University conducted SET (General) 2017 for admission to their under graduate programs in management, mass communication, BCA, economics, liberal arts on May 6, 2017.  

The test had 4 sections, General English (40 Questions), Quantitative (40 Questions), General Awareness (40 Questions), Analytical & Logical Reasoning (30 Questions). The exam duration was 15 minutes (2.5 Hrs.). Each question had 4 options and carried one mark each. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers 

Here is a section wise analysis-

General English

This section had two lengthy RC passages, one with 5 questions & other with 3. There were around 12 15 moderate difficult  questions on vocabulary (This has been SET characteristic over past few years). There were 3 questions based on one word substitution & idioms-phrases each (easy), 4 questions each on antonyms-synonyms (difficult), analogies & para jumbles (Easy). Verbal Reasoning part had questions on strong & weak arguments (3 questions).  Except vocabulary questions, the section was easy and doable 

Quantitative

This section had two questions on Data interpretation (2 bar graphs with total 7-8 questions) which were very easy. There were a few questions around linear equations.  Other topics covered were Time Speed & Distance (4), Mensuration (3), Numbers (3) & Mixtures, work & pipes, percentages (3 each), compound interest & probability (1 each). There were no questions from modern math

General Awareness

Most questions were static in nature, i.e. 2 each from Indian history, days & dates, general sciences(Covered scientists & inventions, too) and economics. Other important topics covered were Indian politics & geography. A few questions were based on countries & culture. Only five questions were from current affairs. Overall section was moderate to difficult.

Analytical & Logical Reasoning

This section had two difficult logical puzzles. Other key areas were matrix arrangements, coding & decoding, Venn diagrams, family tree, groups and conditionalities. There was one question each on directions & clocks. No questions were asked around calendars or odd-man out. There was no syllogisms based question. This section was easy

Overall difficulty level of the paper was easy-medium & good scores across sections to qualify for PI-WAT stage should be as follows
