Dear MBA Aspirants,

The TISSNET 2017 and TISS M.A HR 2017-19 notification is out. The application process for TISSNET and TISS M.A HR program is with the same Application form.

TISS ANNOUNCES Admission to the 2017-19 batch for it's Full-Time (Regular) Post-Graduate Degree Programmes (M.A., M. Sc., M.H.A., M.P.H.) offered from Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad campuses and other locations.

Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses have independent high quality faculty engaged in teaching, research, policy and outreach activities. The Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses are networked with Mumbai campus to access library, online books and journals and classes. All campuses have unified campus placement policy and placement process.

Eligibility for Indian applicants Candidates having a bachelor's degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education)  from a recognized university are eligible to apply.

Admission process The selection of candidates for different programmes happens in two stages and has three components of assessment. All candidates appear for the National entrance test (TISSNET). Based on the performance in the TISSNET examination, only short listed candidates are called for the Pre Interview Test and Personal Interview.(PIT/PI) Please check the below drop-downs for detailed M.A Selection Procedure.

2nd Stage Selection Process PIT (pre-interview test) consisting of essay writing (WAT) and group discussion (6-10 people, 15 minutes to write 200-250 words, 20 minutes to discuss) whereby students are given 2 topics to choose and select within 60 seconds followed by a PI for 20-30 minutes on an average with 3 panelists.(2 men and 1 lady)

  1. Candidates can apply for a maximum of three programmes across any two of the TISS Campuses and other locations.
  2. Candidates are requested to read through the eligibility criteria mentioned here before filling up the form.
  3. Unemployed candidates, whose parent’s/guardian’s annual income from all the sources for the Financial Year 2015-16 is less than Rs.2.5 Lakhs for SC/ST and Rs.1 lakh for OBC(NC) are required to pay Rs.250/- as Concessional Application Fee for each programme. However they should upload the necessary certificates.
  4. Candidates have to upload/ attach relevant certificates strictly in the format mentioned here Please refer to the section 'Certificates/ Documents to be uploaded' below.
  5. The application fees is Rs.1,030/- (if being paid by Credit card/ Debit card/ Net Banking) or Rs.1,000/- + bank charges (if being paid through bank by cash). Candidate has to pay this amount for every programme he applies for. For more details refer to the section 'Application fee payment' below.
  6. A candidate can apply for multiple programmes and pay for those programmes in one online form and should not fill more than one form. If a candidate is found to have filled more than one online form, all his applications will be cancelled.

Note 1: Candidates applying through the online application form will have to upload the certificates mentioned above. Those who are submitting a hard copy of the application form should post along with the application form the above mentioned documents attested by any School Headmaster or a Principal of College or a Gazetted Officer. (Ref Reservation Section on the admission website). Requests received without the above Certificates will be rejected and no communication will be sent in this regard.

Note 2: SC/ST candidates whose annual family income is <=250000 and OBC(NC) candidates whose annual family income is <=100000 have to upload Income certificate for the Financial Year 2015-2016 issued by Revenue Officer.

Merit List preparation:

  1. The weightage for NET, PIT and PI is as follows for the for the preparation of final merit lists for General as well as for Reserved Category candidates. NET – 40% ; PIT – 30% ; PI – 30%.
  2. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of merit and the preferences indicated by the candidates at the time of filling up the online application form (Kindly Indicate your preferences carefully as it has implications for the merit list) 
  3. In case of a tie between two candidates, their PI marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PI will be considered, in case there is a tie in PI marks too their PIT marks will be compared and the one with more marks in PIT will be considered, in case there is a tie in PIT marks too then the Entrance test marks will be compared and the one with more marks in entrance test will be considered, in case there is a tie in Entrance marks too then the candidate higher in age will be given the seat.

Based on the merit list for each programme, the list of selected candidates will be put up on the website. Each candidate will also receive his/her score card indicating the marks for each component of the examination process.

List of Selected Candidates and list of wait-listed candidates will be displayed on the TISS admission website.

Rules for preparation of the wait-list

  1. Candidates who get admission to the programme of their first preference will not be on wait-lists for any other programme mentioned in their list of preferences.
  2. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their second preference, will only be retained in the wait list of the first preference. Candidates who get admission into any programme which is their third preference, will be retained in the wait list of their first and second preference
  3. Candidates, who receive an admission in a programme lower in their order of preferences, will be retained in the wait-list of a preference higher in the order, till the seats in that programme are filled.
  4. In case, the candidates qualifies in two programmes at the same time, when the wait list is activated, the higher preference will prevail. The Institute will offer admission only to the higher preference.
  5. When a candidate who has already taken admission in a programme as per the first merit list is subsequently offered the higher preference when the wait list is activated, he/she will be moved into the programme of higher preference and will be informed.
