The National Scholarship Test is aimed at exposing students to the entrance examinations for Post-Graduate Management Degrees/MBA and encouraging them to start their preparations early.

The National Scholarship Test has been scientifically designed to test you on the same lines as the MBA entrance exams, with three separate sections on

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning.
  • Quantitative Ability

NST is a paper-based Test which shall be conducted within a pre-defined period and shall offer percentile along with All India Ranking.

Duration: 90 Minutes (without any sectional time limits)

Mode: Paper based (answers to be marked in an OMR Sheet.)

Medium: English

Scoring pattern: Student will get +3 for every correct answer & -1 for every incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions

How to Register for NST?

The National Scholarship Test will be an 8 day event. Interested students can register here or visit the nearest IMS Centre to Register and appear for the test.


Day 1 - 16th July 2017

There will be a single slot from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on this day. Students will have to register for this test and come to the center for this test. If you register on IMS Website, check your registered email ID. Carry a copy of the email sent to you and visit the centre to take the test.

Day 2 to Day 7 - 17th July 2017 to 22nd July 2017

The Test will be conducted in various colleges in the cities where IMS is present. Contact your local IMS center to know the schedule and the venue of the Test.

Day 8 - 23rd July 2017

There will be a single slot from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM on this day. Students will have to register for this test and come to the center for this test. If you register on IMS Website, check your registered email ID. Carry a copy of the email sent to you and visit the centre to take the test.

About CAT and IMS Programs

The CAT is a computer based test and is conducted at venues across India. A candidate can appear for CAT only once during the testing window. To appear for the CAT, the candidate must either hold a Bachelor's degree or must be completing the final year of bachelor’s degree examination.

Structure and Pattern of CAT

CAT is a computer based test wherein subjects are subdivided into different areas i.e.: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability. It’s a test of 180 minutes consisting of 100 questions.

The test consists of 3 sections as per CAT 2016

  • The CAT exam is of 180 minutes with 60 minutes per section and one cannot switch between sections.
  • Since 2015, CAT has been introduced with the basic on-screen calculator. An on-screen timer will mark remaining minutes for the test.
  • Three (3) points will be awarded for each correct answer; one (1) point will be deducted for each wrong answer. There is no penalty for questions that are left unanswered.

  • Application Builder Module (1600+Questions): A module within myIMS to help you apply concepts learned to the questions on different areas that are tested in CAT to help you understand your strengths & weaknesses areawise.(In a phased manner from the month of April)
  • Test Taking Skill Builder Module: The 30 Section Tests (10 QA, 10 DI-LR & 10 VA-RC), 25 take home SimCATs, 15- Proctored SimCATs and choice to select any 5 ADMAT (tests other than CAT). Each of the tests is followed by a detailed Performance Evaluation Report (PER) ADMATs (choice of any 5) are Test packs comprising a minimum of 5 comprehensive tests each from any of the tests, i.e., XAT, CMAT, IIFT, TISS, SNAP, NMAT, MH-CET, IRMA, MAT and ATMA.(In a phased manner from the month of April)

Terms and Conditions

  • This waiver cannot be combined with any other waivers that would be available to a student as per regular waiver policy.
  • City Topper must have scored at least 60% of the total marks to be eligible for 100% waiver. Else the student will be eligible for a 50% waiver only.
  • The scholarship offer is valid for only classroom program enrolment.
  • The waiver is not transferable or redeemable.
  • This National Scholarship Test is being conducted by IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd between 16th July to 23rd July 2017.
  • The scholarship is valid only on registrations done in paper-based format with answers to be submitted via OMR sheets.
  • Each winner will be entitled to only one Scholarship prize. Successful candidates will be selected on merit.
  • Scholarship offers cannot be clubbed with any other local offer, neither can they be redeemed in the form of cash or any other gifts.
  • Prizes can be claimed only on successful completion of the enrolment process.
  • IMS students, employees of IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd., its affiliates (partners), and their family members are not eligible to participate in the Scholarship Offer.
  • Last date to avail the Scholarship offer is December 31, 2017.
  • The Scholarship is not transferable to other people or other academic years. Once a scholarship is granted, neither the Centre nor the study programme may be changed.
  • A student who declines an initial offer of admission and accompanying scholarship offer will not retain his/her scholarship offer if he/she reapplies at a later date.
  • IMS reserves the right to change, discontinue, extend the associated dates, or modify the terms and conditions thereof without giving any prior notice.
  • Aspirants registering in the National Scholarship Test authorize IMS to send voice messages and SMS alerts/messages to their mobile/landline numbers. Subscribers who have opted for DND (Do Not Disturb) facility with their respective service providers may not receive the aforesaid messages / alerts.
  • Test Centres (Offline Mode Only)
    • The test will be conducted offline at select venues across centres in India.
    • No request for change of centre for the test shall be entertained.
    • IMS reserves the right to cancel any of the Test Centres and/ or add other centres, at its discretion, depending upon the response, administrative feasibility, etc.
    • IMS reserves the right to allot the candidate to any centre other than the one he/she has opted for.
    • Candidates appearing for the NST 2017 at a test centre do so at their own risk and expenses and IMS will not be responsible for any injury or losses etc. of any nature.
    • Any unruly behaviour/misbehaviour at the test venue may result in cancellation of candidature whilst appearing for the NST 2017 conducted by IMS.
  • Waivers and Scholarships for the National Scholarship Test can only be availed by non-enrolled students while enrolling into IMS Classroom programs. These waivers will not be applicable to existing IMS Students to claim refunds in a retrospective manner.
