MAH Law CET (3 Yr. LLB) 2017 Analysis

MAH Law CET 2017 was conducted in a 120-minute (2 hours) slot, with 150 objective type questions and no negative marking. The test had four sections without any sectional time limit. The paper was made available in English & Marathi languages. Each question had four options. There was no deviation in question types in comparison to the sample paper.

Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning

This section had 30 Legal reasoning & no Legal GK questions. Questions were not lengthy as most of them had one line each in principle & fact. This section was a fair mix of all topics. Torts dominated the section (9 Q), followed by Procedural law (5 Q) Criminal Law (4Q) and 2 questions each from Constitution, Contracts and Property Law. Rest of the questions were from miscellaneous areas like Arbitration (1 Q), Consumer Protection (1 Q) and general/self-created laws (4Q).

Answers could be directly inferred from the given principle. There were hardly any tricky/confusing questions. Overall difficulty level of the section remained easy.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

Current Affairs dominated this section with 24 questions. Static GK part of this section had only 16 questions. CA was mainly from areas like government & politics, awards & honours, personalities, sports, world news & forums. C.A. required more of a general reading rather than topic focused preparation.  Static GK was based on trade terminologies, economy, Indian politics, national insignia & establishments.

Logical & Analytical Reasoning

Majority of the questions in this section was based on arrangements i.e. matrix arrangements (2 sets with 10 questions) and linear arrangement (1 set with 5 questions). One of set based on day-person-city belonged to higher level of difficulty. Apart from this, there were 3 Q on family tree, 2Q on directions, 3 Q on data sufficiency, 2 Q on logical puzzles and 5 Q on Syllogism. Except for questions on Syllogisms, the level difficulty was easy to moderate.

English

All questions of one type were grouped in this section. This section had 2 RC passages with 10 Q each. The passages were of 550-600 words making the section lengthy and time consuming. The questions on were based on direct facts, vocabulary and central idea. There were 10 questions each on phrase replacement and cloze test. The remaining 10 questions were from Para jumbles (5) and grammar (5).  The difficulty level of this section can termed as easy-moderate

MAH Law CET (3 Yr. LL.B) 2017: Expected Cut off

One should expect a total score of 105-111 to get an entry into top law colleges.
