The IBPS Preliminary Exam was conducted on November 26, 2016 and November 27, 2016 in four slots on each day this year.

The overall structure of the IBPS Prelims clerical exam remained the same, with 3 sections, 5 options, one mark allotted for correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 mark allotted for every wrong answer. The overall difficulty level of the exam was slightly lower than that of the previous IBPS Prelims clerical exam.
