IBPS Clerk Analysis - 2017

The IBPS Clerk 2017 exam will be conducted on two levels- preliminary exam and mains. IBPS‘s Clerk recruitment is the much-expected opportunity for every banking contender. With the IBPS Prelims exam, the achievement of your goal is now near at hand. The paper had 3 sections, 5 options per question. As per the notification, one mark was allotted for each correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. The difficulty of this exam can be rated at Moderate.

The exam was conducted on 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th December, 2017. The exam was conducted in 3 different slots on each of these dates.

Verbal Ability

Overall this section was of moderate difficulty level; however some questions were quite easy. IBPS surprised the aspirants this time by offering “New Pattern - Fill in the Blank” questions, some of which were tough to answer.

The best approach to maximize the scores in this section should have been to attempt the easy error detection questions first and then think of attempting the Reading Comprehension. Some questions in the passage were analytical and were tough to crack. Some questions in the Verbal Ability section were warped, however, that didn’t make the section very tough to crack.

  • 1 part of the sentence was fixed and there were errors in 3 parts and 1 part had no error in it. Students had to identify the part which had no error in it.

Sentence improvement 12 Questions were based on the old pattern [Phrase replacement], where a phrase of the sentence, given in bold had to be replaced from the given options. Moderate - Difficult

Logical Reasoning

This section in IBPS Clerk Prelims 2017 was fairly easy to solve. There were sets of puzzles and Seating Arrangement which are mentioned below. This section didn’t offer any surprises or new patterns.

Arithmetic (Quantitative Ability)

This section of IBPS Clerk Prelims – 2017 was of easy to moderate level. The number of questions from Arithmetic (word problems) was high and kept changing with every shift. Compared to last year, lesser questions from DI were asked in this section. Simplifications, as usual, had the highest number of questions.
