The Maharashtra CET for seeking admission to MMS/MBA programs in the state is scheduled on the 17th of February 2008. You surely have several questions running in your mind. IMS brings in the answers for you.
When can I apply for the CET?
Step 1: Procure the Information Brochure from select post offices from 18th January to 31st January 08. The list of Post Offices has been released in the notification. It is mandatory to purchase the Information Brochure along with the ‘MAH/MMS-CET 2008 Kit’ from a specified post office Click here to view a list of Post Offices»
Step 2: Aspiring candidates are required to register their name online on the website www.dte.org.in.mba for which the Application ID and password is supplied in the kit.
Step 3: Candidates are supposed to submit online application through Internet.

Candidate is also required to paste the recent photo and put signature provided on the sheet provide in the kit which is to be scanned and uploaded on the website as per given guidelines. The candidates have to confirm the registration online itself.

The Online System shall generate the Hall Ticket for CET bearing name of the candidate, the photo and signature of the candidate, CET venue an.

All India candidates who wish to apply for admission through CAP only on the basis of CAT/MAT(Feb ‘08)/JMET/XAT/ATMA against All India seats will have to compulsorily register for CET. However the Hall ticket for CET shall not be issued to such candidates. Such candidates can take a print out of the submitted application for future reference.
Maharashtra State candidates can apply through Mah CET and/or any of the All India Entrance tests, however the score which is higher would be considered for the CAP rounds.
What is the application fee?
Application form processing fees (including fees for GD/PI) s stated below is to be paid at identified in cash only. No other mode of payment shall be permitted.

J & K migrant candidates who wish to apply against J & K migrant quota and also against OMS quota are required to pay total fee of Rs.2300 (Two separate receipts of Rs.1150 need to be procured).
What are the documents required while submitting the application form?
Candidates are required to carry original documents for verification and submit attested Xerox copies of the following certificates at the time of confirmation of CAP application form at the ARC.

Certificate of Indian Nationality* in the name of the candidate

Statement of marks in HSC and SSC

Statement of marks for Bachelor’s Degree examination (i.e. the qualifying degree examination) in case the candidate has passed the Bachelor’s Degree Examination. (Candidates who have appeared for the final year degree examination have time limit up to 30th September 2007 to procure the same)

* The certificate of Indian Nationality is part of the Domicile certificate, which is usually issued by the Tahsildar/Executive Magistrate/Deputy Collector of the concerned district/Taluka. You can substitute this with the following:

Indian Passport in the name of the candidate, issued by appropriate authorities.
No documents are needed at the time of filling online form for MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 08. However no change in the information once filled is permitted at a later date.

Is there any minimum percentage requirement for applying?
Yes. In order to secure admission to the 2-year full time MMS/MBA/BPDBM/PGDBA programs, the candidate should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree (of minimum 3 years duration) with a minimum of 45 % marks in aggregate (40% in the case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any discipline from a university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
OR
Appeared for final year examination of any Bachelor’s Degree (of minimum 3 years duration) from a university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the degree examination with a minimum of 45 % marks in aggregate (40% in the case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only)

What is the test timing?
The test is for a duration of 2 ½ hours from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Candidates are required to report to the test centre ½ hour ahead of the start time.

What are the steps in the selection procedure?
- Registering for CET
- Appearing for the MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2008
- Declaration of CET 08 results
- Registration for the GD/PI
i. Register for GD/PI through candidates login.
ii. Candidate selects available dates for GD/PI through candidates login
iii. Candidate is allotted a venue and date
iv. System generates “GD/PI Call Letter”. Candidate takes a print out.
- Appearing for the GD/PI
- Submission of Work Experience certificates
i. Candidate send the original copies of the work experience strictly as per the Proforma-G given in the brochure along with the following documents:
1. AppointmentOrder(s)
2. JoiningReport(s)
3. Marklistofqualifyingexamination
4. Relieving letter(s)( if applicable)
ii The certificates should be sent through Registered Post only as per the schedule at the following address by clearly mentioning on the envelope the Application ID of the candidate and write “WE certificates for the MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2008”

If you are an OMS candidate you can apply through the Maharashtra CET or with your CAT/XAT/JMET/MAT/ATMA scores. Even if you are applying through scores of any of the All India entrance tests, you would need to register for the Maharashtra CET. Such students will have to attend only the GD/PI rounds.
