Mysore has carved a niche as the pioneer of management
teaching practices. SDM-IMD possesses more than a decade
of experience in setting the standards of management

The process for the flagship PGDBA programme is through
the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs
followed by a Managerial Aptitude Screen (MAS). The
previous academic record, relevant work experience
of the students also play a role in the screening
process.
A part of the SDM Educational Trust, Ujire, (SDMET),
SDM-IMD has its philosophies concreted with decades
of experience. SDMET runs over 35 premium educational
institutions including higher education centres in
medical, engineering, dental and management sciences.
The trust also involves itself in charity and social
upliftment.
Campus The campus is a first-of-its-kind in the
country. An amalgamation of modern infrastructure
with stylized classic architecture makes the setting

upgraded hardware, software and Communication facilities,
SDM-IMD is taking the face of management into the
new era. With a dedicated broadband Internet connection
available on a 24-hour basis, students have access
to information at any instant. Students, faculty and
administration are networked with an internal LAN.
SAP University Alliance
Programme As part of its continued endeavor to ensure
that its students are work ready from day one of Final
Placement, SDM-IMD is a member of the Global SAP University
Alliance Programme. Complete access to SAP R/3 is
available on 24x7 basis for faculty and students,
with SAP functionalities integrated into various courses
both for concepts and methodology. Apart from this,
students and faculty is benefitting from access to
plug and play material, research projects and research
funding.
Amphitheatre With a seating capacity of over 500, the amphitheatre
serves as a platform for students to display their
cultural capabilities. The amphitheatre is where students
relax for an evening of cultural vibrancy and talent
exposition.
Auditorium The auditorium is a spacious hub of discourses,
seminars, presentations, etc. With over-300 seating
capacity, the auditorium also serves as a theatre
for management movies. Cultural, educational and recreational
fests continuously take place in the auditorium making
the learning process more fun and interactive.
Hostel The SDM-IMD hostel is a home away from home. With
fully furnished single rooms, lounge / study area,
recreational facilities and a common dining area,
the SDM-IMD hostel is a mini world on its own. The
other facilities in the hostel include broadband internet
access, housekeeping, dry cleaning and laundry.
Fitness A spectacular 4000 square foot games block, indoor
walking / jogging track, table tennis courts and a
private fitness centre help the students pursue their

Library SDM-IMD Library is a resource centre for teaching,
learning & research. Being the heart of the academic
centre, it is home for all the information services.
With an aim of providing "Anytime, Anywhere Access"
to information, the library contributes and supports
SDM-IMD in transforming talent into business leadership.
It plays a proactive role in enabling access to information
resources of all kind and providing innovative, responsive
and effective services to meet the changing needs
of the academic community.
Surrounded by nature, the visually pleasing three-tier
design makes the library an extension of the classroom
environment. It houses literature predominantly related
to management and its allied subjects and develops
and maintains a comprehensive collection of information
resources that are useful for academic and research
purposes. It ensures that information resources are
acquired and organized to meet the present and future
needs of its patrons. The library utilizes information
technology extensively to ensure that resources are
accessible from anywhere at anytime.
The Library holds a hybrid collection of printed
as well as electronic resources which included books,
journals, databases, audio-visuals, CDs/DVDs, e-books,
e-journals, reports, course materials, case studies,
conference proceedings, training manuals, etc. Currently
the library holds over 20,000 books, 130 print journals,
provides access to 1100 e-journals, electronic corporate
databases, newspaper and business magazine database,
a local database pertaining to case studies and 120
multimedia resources.
Yoga Top physical and emotional fitness is a pre-requisite
for performance in today's hectic globalised environment.
Practice of Yoga and Meditation is thus a practical
and value added solution to address this need. Visioning
this the Institute has made YOGA & MEDITATION
CLASSES COMPULSORY to all its students.
Programs Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration
(PGDBA) : The core offering of the Institute is the
two year mandatorily residential PGDBA programme approved
by the AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India
(File No. 431/41-19/MCP(M)/95). With an intake
of 120 students per batch, the programme is enriched
with a combination of contemporary conceptual and
industry practices, driven by faculty with an eclectic
mix of industry and teaching experience and supported
by an infrastructure that matches global standards.
Students have the option to specialise in the second
year in upto two functions among a choice of Marketing,
Finance, Systems, HRM and Operations.

J.M. Subramanya, BE, FIE, PGDBA (IIM, Ahmedabad)
Qualified Lead Auditor from CQE, UK.
Director, SDM-IMD He has wide-ranging experience in both the corporate
sector as well as in academics. After graduating from
IIM-A, he worked in various leading companies for
thirty-one years. Simultaneously he also taught management
in business schools. His specialisation is in the
area of Operations Management and General Management.
Before joining SDM-IMD he was Vice President - Operations
with Sanmar Engineering Corporation, Chennai. During
his career in industry, he taught in KIMS, Karnatak
University as a guest faculty. He has served as a
member on several panels of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce
and Karnatak University.
Presently he is an Executive Board Member of Association
of Indian Management Schools.
K. Balakrishnan, BA (Econs), Loyola Madras;
PGDM, IIM Ahmedabad Has twenty-two years industrial experience across
various sectors, functions and organisations such
as Blue Star Ltd., Sanmar Group and Escorts Ltd. Was
the COO/CEO of Century Wood Ltd. & Raman Boards
Ltd.
Exposure to functional areas of Management include
Marketing, Contracting, and Corporate Management.
Has traveled abroad extensively in the pursuit of
International Business with MNCs such as IKEA, Westinghouse,
York, Siemens and others. Set up India's first automated
solid wood furniture facility as a green field 100%
EOU.

committees such as the Technical Education & Training
Committee, Industry-Institute Collaboration Committee,
Manufacture & Technical Panel, and the Business
Management & Operation Panels of CII Mysore Zone

testing methodology for reliability evaluation and
non-destructive evaluation using eddy current and

and the INAE. After joining SDM-IMD, he has published
over 50 papers and articles. He participated in the
UNDP Case Writing Project on Corporate Social Responsibility.
Prof Balakrishnan is a resource person with the UGC
Academic Staff College and teaches as visiting faculty
with KIAMS, IIMK and IIMB. He is also a regular speaker
at various Rotary Clubs. Prof. Balakrishnan is on
the board of the CSI Holdsworth Memorial Hospital
and is currently involved in select industrial consultancy
assignments.
V. Charles, M.Sc (Loyola College), D.IBM, D.PMIR,
Ph.D (NIT Warangal) He has been teaching for the last eight years.
Before he joined SDM-IMD he was with Andhra Loyola
College, Vijayawada. Panel Member: Board of Studies,
Andhra Loyola College. His Specialization is in Operations
Research – Stochastic Programming, Multivariate Statistical
Techniques, Processor Scheduling Algorithms, Stochastic
Mathematical Approach to Data Mining, Industrial Mathematical
Stochastic Modelling, and Financial Modelling. His
work includes 25 published research papers in both
National and International refereed journals and proceedings
in the areas of Stochastic Optimization, Financial
Derivatives, Corporate Finance - Capital Budgeting,
Portfolio Optimization. He won the best research paper
award in Finance from Centre for Financial Excellence,
KLS’ IMER, Belgaum. He has Presented 17 research papers
at International Conferences and 11 at National Conferences.
Thrice identified as a fellow to solve industrial
problems of India and UK service industries at IIT
Bombay, and has been sponsored by UNESCO, Royal Society
of UK and Brunel University, UK.
H. Gayathri, MBA, PhD (Mysore University) Over nineteen years of teaching experience at
the Mysore University and at SDM Institute for Management
Development. Assisted various companies in Market
Research Studies. Dr. Gayathri has published articles
in the area of Marketing, and has also taken up consultancy
assignments for the SME sector. She has helped in
developing strategic marketing plans, and focused
on creating customer friendly, relationship oriented
structures in the banking Industry. She is a resource
person with the Staff Training College of SBM.
She is a member of SME Panel, CII and NHRD. Her areas
of interest are Business Negotiation Skills, Marketing,
Services Management & Service Quality and Leadership

R. Jagadeesh, B.E, M.E, Ph.D, (IIT Mumbai)
Also holds PG Diplomas in SCMM & Production Management.
Over twenty three years of teaching experience in
Engineering and Management subjects. Was the regular
Faculty in The Department of Mechanical Engineering,
SJCE, Mysore and visiting faculty for various Management

Malathi Sriram, B.Sc., MCA, PGDSA, M.Phil. She has sixteen years of varied work experience
in academics and in the industry.

Institute of Professional Studies in the area of Systems
Analysis and Design. She has conducted a number of
corporate training programs in the area of RDBMS,
Systems Analysis & Design, OOAD and UML. She was
Academic Head, Aptech Computer Education, Mysore.
She has been guiding students in various projects.
In SDM-IMD, Mysore from the past 4 years, she has
been teaching various courses.
She has worked as software engineer in the industry,
developing and designing web-enabled applications.
She has worked as consultant for M/s. Prosperity Marketing
Services Pvt. Ltd. She was in charge of Software Configuration
Management, Requirements Gathering and Design Documentation.
She was in Aztec Software technologies and services
as Product Analyst for an Off-Shore Development Center
of Dendrite, based in USA.

R. Mohanakrishnan, M.A. M.Phil, Ph. D Over twelve years of experience in Corporate,
Academics and Consulting. He has trained more than
1000+ people on Selling, Customer Care Skills and
on various management development programmes, in Telecom
Industry. He worked in two other IT industries as
Head HR and played an anchor role in setting the HR
Systems and Processes.
He has enormous interest in Organisation Development,
and Behavioral Science based training and interventions.
He had inducted the Development Centre for more than
1000 employees in ING Vysya Bank during his tenure
as Corporate HR Manager.
His other area of interest is Talent Management. He
had been invited as a Guest Speaker by various National
and International fora. His paper on Talent Management
is accepted and he was invited to present a paper
on the 3rd ARTDO International Conference at Macau,
China. He also presented a paper on “Redefining Motivational
Paradigm” in the international IFTDO conference to
be held in Cairo, Egypt.
He is currently consulting Rane Group (Chennai), URC
construction Group (Erode), and Rangsons Marketing
Services Private limited, Mysore.

of HR panel of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)

Neetu Ganapathy, M.Sc., Masters Diploma in Business
Administration (SIMS, Pune) Neetu Ganapathy has done her M.Sc., in Computer
Science from the University of Mysore. She has also
earned a Masters Diploma in Business Administration
(Marketing) from SIMS, Pune.
She has wide-ranging experience in the training industry
in both the areas of soft skills and IT. Her first
assignment was with Aptech Computer Education, Mysore,
where she taught IT and worked in various capacities,
including as Group Leader and Academic Head. She also
taught IT at the Mahajana Degree College, Mysore.
She has recorded programmes on IT, with EMMRC, Mysore,
which are to be telecast on the UGC Countrywide Classroom.
She has worked with Softgate Technologies, San Jose,
California, as a Consultant on projects in IT.
S. Padmanaban, B.Com, MBA (Panjab), CISA (USA) Twenty-seven years experience in Information Technology
(IT) industry, in private and public sectors (CMC),
in India and Zambia (Zambia State Insurance Corporation
[ZSIC]), in capacities ranging from Systems Manager
to Director / VP (Operations) and also as Certified
Information Systems Auditor. Directed and coordinated
many IT projects, including Indian Railways Passenger
Reservation System.
Designed and conducted courses and delivered guest
lectures on subjects of IT, Information Systems Audit,
Security, and Control, at IIMA, TISS, SBI, Bank of
Baroda, ZSIC Staff College, University of Zambia,
National Insurance Academy, Symbiosis Centre for Management
and Human Resource Development. Carried out consultancy
assignments on IS with public and private sector banks.
Authored and co-authored cases, case analyses, published
articles in refereed journals, and also presented
papers at international conferences. Research interests

N.R. Parasuraman, LLB, FCS, FICWA, DBF, Ph.D. Twenty-four years of experience in diverse areas
of Finance. Corporate experience includes being Company
Secretary of Federal Bank Ltd., and Securities Analyst
for Joindre Capital Services Ltd. Has been researching
and teaching in areas of Strategic Finance, Cost Management,
Portfolio Management and International Finance. Is
a regular visiting faculty of Finance at the Indian
Institute of Management, Kozhikode.
G. Raghavan, MBA, Ph.D Also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute
of Bankers with Diplomas in International Banking,
Financial Services and Bank Management.
27 years experience in a leading nationalized bank
in India and in Hong Kong. He has been a Senior Faculty
Member in the bank’s staff college for several years
and visiting faculty for select professional institutions,
trade bodies, educational institutions, b-schools,
banks and financial institutions. Scripted bullion
banking products, policies, systems and controls when
the new gold policy was unveiled in India in 1997.
Authored books on (i) Introduction to Foreign Trade,
Foreign Exchange and Risk Management, (ii) Merchant

N. Raghavendra Puthraya, B.E., M.Tech. He is basically an Industrial and Production Engineer
from University BDT College of Engineering (UBDTCE),
Davanagere and Master of Technology in Engineering
Management from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT),
Manipal. He worked as an "Engineer- Materials and
Logistics" in Automobile as well as Energy (wind energy)
sectors, before joining SDM-IMD. His areas of research
interest includes: Production/Operations Management,
World Class Manufacturing Systems, Technology Management
and SCM/Logistics.
Kalapatapu Ravikiran Sharma, BA, MSW, BCJ, CM,
MPhil, MMC A qualified human resource professional, qualified
social work professional and a qualified mass communication
professional, he is a MPhil with organizational behaviour
as his research area from the prestigious IIT Bombay.
His management teaching experience comprises a stint
as an associate professor with Rai University - Hyderabad
centre and as a lecturer in Institute for Technology
and Management- Warangal centre. After completing
his doctoral coursework with IIT Roorkee, he is currently
pursuing his thesis on a part- time basis. He served
as a teaching assistant at IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee
for three semesters and one semester respectively.
Lately, he secured a prize as a successful Indian
alumnus from his England alma mater, Southampton Solent
University, Southampton, where he pursued a five-month
full-time Post Graduate Certificate in Management
on a full scholarship. He has published/presented
nine research papers so far.He has also contributed
philosophical poems. His teaching-cum-training areas
are human resources, organisational behaviour and
communication.
C.S. Somu, B.E., L.L.M. (University of Mysore),
Diploma in Business Management, PGD in Cyberlaw, PGD
in Human Rights, Diploma in e-commerce He is a versatile academican specialising in Law.
Worked in various Engineering, Polytechnic and Pharmacy
Colleges for 5 years. Noted writer in many newspapers
specifically in the area of cyberlaw. Has over 7 years
of teaching experience in Law and 4 years in Engineering
coupled with 3 years research experience. Worked in
Two-Wheeler automobile sector for 5 years. Currently
pursuing his PhD in the area of cyberlaw and human
rights from University of Mysore. Has published several
papers in the areas of property law, environmental
law, cyberlaw, labour and industrial law and so on
in reputed journals. Has carried out an empirical
study for the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board

T.V. Venkatarathna, M.Com (Mysore University),
FICWA Twenty-five years experience. Was associated in
senior positions with Vikrant Tyres Ltd., Optrex India
Ltd., and was Controller Finance and Administration
for The UB Group (Life Sciences Division). Worked
in Advisory / Consultancy positions relating to framing
of MOUs, proposals for new units, Project Appraisal,
Financial Planning etc. Teaching experience at local
chapters of ICWAI and ICAI, Bangalore. Special areas
in SDM-IMD include Project Appraisal, Corporate Finance,
Derivatives and Risk Management.
Vinod Madhavan, MBA, PGDRM Over nine years of experience in both industry
and academics, specialised in the area of marketing.
He is an accomplished trainer in the area of sales
and distribution management and CRM. Presently he
is pursuing his Ph.D in the area of Economics from
the Karnatak University, Dharwad. His area of work
is related to the formats and break-even points of
organised food retail. He is involved in the content
development, training and course formulation of Retail
Management across many Universities, Institutes and
Industry.
He is also the recipient of the prestigious CII Industrial
Fellowship Award wherein he has worked with FoodWorld
Supermarkets Pvt. Ltd. to develop their supply chain.
Prior to his academic venture, he headed sales in
South India for Mobil Peeves Ltd (A unit of ExxonMobil,
USA). He has published seven papers in the area of
marketing management and has presented a paper on
Business Ethics at IIM, Bangalore. He has conducted
over sixty training programmes in the area of sales
and dealer management for the Kirloskar Group (Kirloskar
Oil Engines, Kirloskar Copeland Ltd, Kirloskar Pneumatics
Ltd), Atlas Copco, West Coast Paper Mills, Jindal

Events
Samprathi The link between SDM-IMD and small-scale industries
is a close-knit student-managed organisation called
Samprathi. A variety of Management games are a part
of the Samprathi umbrella of events. The highest priority
of Samprathi is social issues. Conducted annually,
the proceeds from these activities go to the underprivileged.
Dimensions A quarterly magazine published by the students,
enable students and practicing managers voice their
opinions about any subject under the sun. Dimensions
enables the students to exercise their skills in writing,
editing and production of a class-leading publication
that compares with the best in the industry.

Client Specific Programmes (CSP) Developed by the faculty in consultation with
the management of the client organisation, CSPs provide
effective solutions with long term impact. CSPs represent
the Institute's approach to On Demand Business.
Consultancy With considerable consultancy experience,
the faculty of SDM-IMD is equipped to tackle any problems
faced by the client. The problem is modularized into
teams or individual faculty members for in-depth research
to arrive at an optimal solution.
Research and Publications SDM-IMD has a team of experienced faculty
who progressively interact to create material that
assists in looking at management through a fresh eye.
With a showcase of research papers and articles produced
in-house, SDM-IMD is paving the way for enriching
management training with its in-house produced knowledge.
Last year 34 papers and 24 articles were published
both in National as well as International journals

About Mysore 140 Kms from Bangalore lies the abode of untold
grandeur and glory. Mysore, the capital city of the
Wodeyars has always enchanted its admirers with its
