These tests are for admission to institutes
within a particular State. For example, the Common Entrance
Test (CET) & the Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET)
are for admission to B-schools of Maharashtra and Andhra
Pradesh respectively and so on.
Process Of Application
The admission process for Regional Tests is
very different from that for the National Tests since:
1. Students are not required to apply individually to
the allied institutes of their choice.
2. There is no short-listing based on score in the written
test.
This means all students who write the test also appear
for the GD and PI. On the basis of the cumulative performance
in the three (Test+GD+PI), a merit list is prepared.
Finally, a counseling session is organized by the testing
body to offer admission on 'higher the score better the institute'
principle. For instance, Directorate of Technical Education
(DTE) takes care of the entire selection process of CET and
thereafter GD and PI for colleges in Maharashtra. Top performers
are offered admission to the best institutes (depending on
the number of seats) and so on.
Incase a student is willing to join the institute offered
during counseling, he is required to pay the first installment
within the specified period. If not, the next candidate
on the merit list is offered the seat.
