Do you recruit Management
Trainees from B-schools every year? How many B-school
pass-outs are recruited on an average every year?
We do recruit management trainees from B Schools
every year. On an average we take 12-15 every year.
What specific qualities
does your company look for while selecting students
from B-schools?
Good conceptual ability, self confidence, high energy
level, ability to learn, ability to relate well
with others, ability to think differently, maturity
and down to earth are some of the qualities we look
for.
Does the pre PG background
(Institute, academic performance) of candidates
matter?
Not really, but we prefer good pre PG background.
Do you prefer freshers
or candidates with prior work experience?
It depends on the need. When we require B School
graduates with prior work experience we taken them
as laterals otherwise generally we hire freshers.
Is it true that candidates
with more than four years of work experience find
it difficult to get placed from Campus?
This situation may also depend on the quality of
B school. There are some companies who prefer people
with work experience as they are more productive
from day one.
Would you like to tell
us something about your company culture which might
interest MBA aspirants?
At Dr Reddy's we foster a culture which has the
following tenets.... Customer Focused and High Performance
Driven - Both external and internal customers are
accorded highest priority with sensitivity and commitment
to target, time & cost and focus on delivering
innovative affordable medicines globally; Entrepreneurial
and Innovative- Genuine mistakes are tolerated,
intelligent risk-taking is encouraged and people
are empowered; Egalitarian and Trusting- Rank and
status consciousness is low; leadership walks the
talk, enjoys credibility & trust; access to
people, resources and information is unrestricted;
Flexible and Adaptive- Change is welcome and initiatives
are implemented with sincerity and commitment, diversity
is understood and accepted. There is mutual respect
for various ethnic cultures.
Besides this, at Dr. Reddy's we follow a performance
driven culture and merit is the only key to the
success of an individual. Career can grow exponentially
if the individual performs well. Career growth is
a function of each individual's performance and
not based on time bound systems or batch wise systems.
What is the selection
process followed by your company for Campus Recruitment?
We do a CV shortlist based on certain parameters
and then when on campus we do a group exercise (Such
as Picture Story/ Dream etc) and followed by interview.
Is the selection process
same at all the B-schools?
Yes. If the no. of short listed students are less
we resort to interviews directly.
How do you decide which
B-schools to visit for Campus Recruitment?
This is decided on our past experience with other
schools, the performance of the alumni's, how long
the selected candidates have been with us (we generally
discourage campuses where the candidates leave after
a year or so) and the general reputation of the
B School. We also experiment with new campuses every
year.
Can you share some interesting
experiences of CRP with us? At Dr Reddy's we select students for summer
placement through our well established "Project
Internship Programme". This is a very structured
programme which lasts for 8-10 weeks during the
month of May -June. Under this programme we choose
students from various B-Schools in areas like Marketing
& Sales, IT, SCM, HR, Finance, Operations and
Business Development. They work on live projects
with senior people in the organization and they
are constantly monitored during the 2 months that
they are with us. Every intern present their findings
and recommendation to the top management before
they close the project. Based on the overall assessment
we call them for Pre Placement Interviews and then
we make PPOs. We prefer to select MTs only through
this route as this gives us a better chance to observe
and evaluate the students for a longer period and
also they in turn get a chance to analyze whether
our kind of culture and business environment meets
their aspiration or not.
