Do you recruit Management
Trainees from B-schools every year? How many B-school
pass-outs are recruited on an average every year?
Yes, we do. However, this is based on the requirements
from the line functions.
For management areas like Operations, we have a
good eMBA programme with SP Jain in place. We sponsor
employees to go for these courses. From campuses,
we primarily recruit for HR & Finance. The numbers
range between 10-15.
What specific qualities
does your company look for while selecting students
from B-schools?
Good understanding of functional domain
Analytical skills
A positive attitude
Organisational fit
Does the pre PG background
(Institute, academic performance) of candidates
matter?
Not to a great extent. The relevant PG is what we
are interested in. To take care of that we visit
good schools like IITs, IIMs, XLRI, TISS, SIBM,
SCMHRD etc.
But since we are an engineering company, it is
advantageous to have a degree in engg.
Do you prefer freshers
or candidates with prior work experience?
We have separate cells for managing this manpower
issue: Fresh level & lateral levels. But most
of the recruiting happens at the entry levels
Is it true that candidates
with more than four years of work experience find
it difficult to get placed from Campus?
Not if the candidate has relevant work experience.

like MLP (for management areas), and TLP (for
technology areas). This top talent is given focused

What is the selection
process followed by your company for Campus Recruitment?
Functional GDs: We have an elaborate Group discussion
process for campuses where we give around an hour
for discussion on a functional area.This gives us
a better idea about the competencies that we want
to have data on.
This process is followed by a detailed competency
based interview where we check areas like functional
knowledge, interpersonal skills, and organizational
fit.

We are moving to a stage where in the selection
process is the same across campuses
How do you decide which
B-schools to visit for Campus Recruitment?
This depends of the relations that we share with
a Campus.
We also consider other factors like :
a) Alumni from the institute
b) B-school rankings
c) Our own set of criteria
We keep our eyes open to the new courses which are
introduced on a campus. For e.g., we visited MDI
Gurgaon for summer placements to get a feel of the
HR programme launched recently. On the basis of
the feedback from the programme, we will take a
decision about our future relations with the campus.
