All you wanted to know about The CLAT    

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is conducted for admissions into the 11 national law colleges with the exception of National Law School of Delhi. It is the main examination in India for law college admissions. Until 2007, each national law college conducted its own entrance exam. However with the advent of CLAT, things are much simplified and easy. It is conducted by different law colleges on a rotation basis on the order of seniority. CLAT this year will be conducted by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.

Eligibility:  

  • A candidate with 10+2 or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks, (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC).

  • Candidate should not be more than 20 years of age as on 1st July 2010 (22 years for SC/ ST/ OBC and Persons with Disability.)

  • Note: Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam (10+2) can also appear provisionally for the law entrance exam.

  • Proof of having cleared the qualifying examination with detailed mark sheet will have to be produced before or at the time of counseling.

Pattern of Test Paper for Undergraduate Program entrance exam:

There are several other law course entrance exams held in India for admission into other law colleges. The paper pattern more or less is similar to CLAT.

Procedure for obtaining and submission of Application Form:
Applications forms along with CLAT-2010 Information Brochure can be obtained from State Bank of India Branches (refer to www.clat.ac.in) and the 11 law schools which accept CLAT Score on payment of Rs.2500 (Rs.2000 for SC/ ST on proof), inclusive of bank charges and test fee.

Request for application form can be sent to The Convenor, CLAT-2010, The National Law Institute University, Kerwa Dam Road, Bhopal – 462044, accompanied by a demand draft for Rs.2500 (Rs.2000 for SC/ ST) drawn in favour of The Convenor, CLAT-2010, payable at Bhopal.

The filled in application form along with the Demand Draft and other enclosures should be sent to the address mentioned below.
