The first slot of CAT 2015 is over and this is what our students have to report:
Most students have reported the administrative process as being quite smooth. Points to be noted are. You are allowed to carry only your Admit Card (with your pasted photo) and ID proof inside the examination room.
The test Interface was almost similar as provided in the official CAT Mock Test, except that the VA-RC Section was further subdivided in the form of Tabs within the Section. The students could start with either the VA or RC Questions and move between the same within the sectional time limit.
Similarly the DI-LR Section was further subdivided in the form of Tabs within the Section. The students could start with either the DI or LR Questions and move between the same within the sectional time limit.
The calculator was reported to be useful in a few questions in DI ENSURE THAT YOU CHOOSE THE ‘SAVE AND NEXT’ OTPION AFTER YOU MARK THE ANSWER TO EACH QUESTION. IF YOU JUST MARK THE ANSWER AND THEN CHOOSE THE NEXT QUESTION FROM THE QUESTION PALETTE, YOUR ANSWERS WILL NOT GET SAVED.
The overall structure of CAT-2015 was same as per CAT 2015 Notification/IIM’s Official CAT Mock with The test starting with the Verbal Section. The Second Section was DI-LR with an equal break up of questions. The Third Section was Quantitative Ability. Each section was timed for 60 minutes. There were no Grammar Questions in VA-RC Section just as the IIM Official mock Test.
Following is the break – up of all the Sections, which was similar as the CAT notification:
|Section||Section Name||Number of questions||TITA Questions||Total Number of questions|
|Section-I||Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension||RC-24||10||34|
|Section-II||Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning||24||8||32|
The first slot of CAT has been reported to be simple, with an easy quant and verbal section. The surprise was 24 RC Questions (similar to CAT official mock test) and no grammar questions at all in the VA-RC Section. The DI-LR section was comparatively tough and time consuming.
