CAT 2019 Notification!

The much awaited IIM CAT notification is out on 28 July 2019 on the official IIM CAT website.  Registration for CAT 2019 has started, click here to register.

6 Important Things to know
  1. CAT 2019 Exam Date: CAT 2019 will be conducted on 24th November 2019 in two slots.
  2. CAT 2019 Structure: CAT will be a three section test; duration of the test will be 180 minutes (60 minutes for each section).
    • Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
    • Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
    • Section III: Quantitative Ability
  3. Important test features
    • Some questions in each section may not be of multiple-choice type. Instead, direct answers will have to be typed on the screen (called TITA questions).
    • An on- screen basic calculator will be provided

  6. Category Reservation

    For 2019, CAT has reserved Upto 10% of the seats for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all India Entrance test conducted by IIMs, for admission to various business administration programs across the country, including 2-year full time postgraduate programs in management, a few Executive programs, Fellowship programs in Management at the IIMs, along with programs at other top Indian B-schools like IITs, FMS, S P Jain, MDI, and NITIE.

IIM Kozhikode will conduct the test for 2019 with TCS providing the technology support.

CAT 2019 notification announced on 28th July 2019.  Approximately 2 lakh candidates appear for CAT every year.

CAT 2019 Structure & Marking Scheme

CAT is a 3 section test; duration of the test is 180 minutes (60 minutes each section).

While the exact number of questions & marking scheme has not been mentioned in the notification, it is expected that the pattern will be similar to CAT 2018

Candidates applying for CAT 2019 should fulfill any one of the following conditions:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*.
  • Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage*.
  • Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*.

SC/ST/PwD candidates should have minimum 45%. For General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, the minimum is 50%.

CAT 2019 Test Cities

CAT 2019 exam will be conducted in test centres spread across 156 cities in comparison to 147 cities in 2018.

Note: Candidates will be given option to select any 4 cities in order of their preference.

Payment Mode:  Online through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking

Application Fee:

  • Rs. 1900/-  for General & NC-OBC) candidates
  • Rs. 950/-  for SC/ST/PWD candidates

As per the legal requirements, (Expected)

  • 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC).
  • 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST).
  • 27% of seats are reserved for “Other Backward Classes” candidates belonging to the “non-creamy” layer (NC-OBC).
  • 5% of the seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD).
  • Upto 10% of the seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)

No CHANGE in the category will be entertained after CAT registration; hence, the applicants are advised to give attention while registering.
