Reserve Bank Of India Assistants Recruitment(RBI) 4th slot: Exam analysis

Preliminary Exam for Recruitment of ASSISTANTS (4th Shift of 24th Dec, 2016)

The exam was conducted by IBPS for RBI Assistant. The overall structure of the RBI Assistant Prelims exam was same like IBPS PO,with 3 sections, 5 options, one mark allotted for correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25 mark allotted for every wrong answer. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate and a little difficult as compared to the previous ones. Most of the questions were easy to moderate in terms of the level of difficulty. The best approach to succeed in these types of exams is to identify the difficult or time consuming questions and attempt them last.

The section-wise analysis of is given below:

English Language:

Overall this section was of moderate difficulty level, but some questions were way too easy. The best approach to maximize score in this section is to attempt cloze and error spotting first and then go for the reading comprehension. Some questions in the passage were analytical and were tough to crack.

A good attempt in this section is 22-24 with 90% accuracy. Time taken should be 15-20 minutes.

Reasoning Ability:

This section was of moderate level. No input output questions were asked. One puzzle was asked. 2 seating arrangement  sets were there. One linear arrangement set was difficult(8 people facing North Side) and other circular arrangement set was easy (8 people facing center) .

Note:  Solving Alpha Numeric Series, directions and syllogisms and then going for arrangements would have been a very good strategy in this section.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section was moderate in difficulty. DI set was easy on the basis of table. There were 10 simplification questions asked.

Miscellaneous (Age, Partnership, Profit Loss, Average, Boats & Stream, Compound/Simple Interest, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Time & Work, etc.)

A good strategy for this section is to attempt Simplifications followed by Number Series and DI set and then the Miscellaneous part at the end.

Time: 20 minutes

Conclusion:  The pre-exam of RBI Assistant was same as any IBPS PO preliminary exam. A total of 62-68 attempts with 90% accuracy can give you a call for the mains exam.
