The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was established in 1963 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to contribute in the skill building for the external trade sector of India. IIFT has two campuses in India- Delhi and Kolkata. IIFT was conferred the status of Deemed University in 2002 and since then has been conducting an autonomous entrance examination across various centres in India. Its flagship program is the Master of Business Administration in International Business (MBA-IB) making IIFT the only institute among the top 10 B-schools of India to offer such a program.
IIFT 2015 was taken by 37,723 candidates out of 42,976 registrations. The total number of seats is 360, 220 in the Delhi campus and 140 in the Kolkata campus.
Ratio of IIFT aspirants is even higher than the CAT aspirants. The 2.18 lakh CAT 2015 aspirants compete for a few thousand MBA seats, whereas there are about 50000 IIFT aspirants competing for 360 seats in IIFT, reflecting the importance of MBA(IB) at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
The 100 percent placement record of MBA (IB) students getting high compensation packages makes IIFT more fascinating than any other MBA/PGDM entrance exam.
