    GMAT Exam Dates 2024: When and How to Schedule Your GMAT 2024 Exam Dates?

    The GMAT, the world’s most popular standardised graduate business school test, is taken annually by over 2 lakh candidates in more than 60 countries. It is the most crucial exam for all those looking to secure a seat in a top-tier MBA or MiM program.

    But with so many students vying to take the GMAT (many of them multiple times), scheduling your exam on your desired date at your desired centre can seem like a struggle. Fortunately, the GMAT is held all year round in 16 cities across India. You also have the option to take the GMAT online test from your home any time of the year.

    This opens up many opportunities for students to take the GMAT when ready and still leaves enough time for a possible retake and further admission procedures. In this blog, we’ll cover the GMAT exam dates for May, June, July and August 2024, considered the ideal time for the fall intake, and the respective centres.     Factors to keep in mind when looking at GMAT exam dates for 2024

    While there are very few restrictions on giving the GMAT, given its inclusivity, a few pointers must be adhered to.

    1. While hypothetically, it is possible to book an exam slot just 24 hours before the test date, in practice, this can become a stretch. Most slots get filled months in advance. If you look for a last-minute booking, you’ll either be forced to travel to a different city or not get an open slot at all.
    2. You can give the GMAT 5 times in 365 days and 8 times in total. While it is improbable that you’ll end up giving more than 3 attempts, it is still important to heed this number.
    3. Remember, most students take the GMAT at least twice. Make sure you leave enough time between your first attempt and the application deadline for another GMAT attempt.
    4. There should be a minimum gap of 16 days between two consecutive attempts.

    With these pointers in mind, let’s move on to how to pick the right slot out of so many GMAT exam dates.

    How to choose the right GMAT exam date in 2024?

    The registration fee for attempting the GMAT in India is US$275 (approximately INR 23000) for exams taken at a test centre and US$300  for (approximately INR 25000) online exams.

    The following key pointers will help you choose the right GMAT exam date in 2024

    1. Identify the Deadline: Identify the earliest application deadline for your target school, and decide a final day you can submit your application.
    2. Allocate Time for Filling in Your Application: Dedicate at least one month before the deadline to prepare your application, including essays, resumes, and letters of recommendation.
    3. Identify the latest date by which you need a GMAT Score, with room for a Possible Retake: GMAT rules require a 16-day waiting period before a Retake, making it vital to include this buffer in your schedule if we fall shy of our target score in the first attempt. Hence our retake score must be ready by the 6th of August. 
    4. Set a GMAT Test Date (First Attempt): With a buffer of 2 to 3 weeks to prepare for and attempt a Retake, you must aim to take the first attempt at the GMAT by mid-July. 
    5. Assess Preparation Start Date: Based on a starting GMAT score estimate of 565, begin your study around the first week of May to achieve your target score of 715 within approximately two and a half months. Adjust your prep time based on your Starting Ability and Weekly Study time commitments.

    How to schedule your GMAT exam in 2024?

    GMAT has made it easy to schedule a test at your convenience. Just follow these steps, and you’ll be on your way.

    1. Visit the mba.com website and create an account by filling in some basic information about yourself.
    2. Once your mba.com account is created, use the details to log back in and go to your My Account page.
    3. You’ll find the Register button there. Click on it, and you’ll be redirected to the registration portal.
    4. Just fill out the details asked, including personal, academic, and work history. You might also be asked to upload some documents, such as your photograph and signature.
    5. Ensure your GMAT profile matches the identification (ID) you’ll present on test day; failure to do so will result in denial of entry and forfeiture of exam fees. In India, only passports are accepted as valid IDs.
    6. You can also immediately schedule your exam at your preferred test centre. Choose your appointment time and pay the registration fees.
    7. You’ll receive an email with the acknowledgement and confirmation of your payment receipt, as well as the exam appointment.
