The MAH MBA CET exam is Maharashtra’s most popular management entrance test, taken by over 50,000 candidates every year. In fact, many out-of-state candidates also take the MAH CET exam to qualify for seats in top colleges such as JBIMS, SIMSREE, Welingkar, and PUMBA. The official syllabus circular for this exam was released on 1st January 2024 on the official website. According to the syllabus, the exam will be divided into 4 sections – Logical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension. There will be a total of 200 questions distributed across the four sections to be attempted within 150 minutes. But what makes this test interesting is the absence of any negative marking or section time limits. Students can switch between sections and attempt the questions in any order they deem fit. This gives them unmatched flexibility in their approach to the paper.

Armed with the right strategy, students can maximise their scores and crack a seat in a top college. To do that, you first need to acquaint yourself with the entire MAH MBA CET syllabus for 2024 and its most important topics.

While you can download the PDF version of the syllabus here, you can also choose to go through the blog below, where we’ve gone a step ahead and broken down the entire syllabus in terms of weightage. Within the reasoning section, there is a further subdivision between abstract and logical reasoning, while the verbal ability section also includes questions on reading comprehension. With less than a minute per question, students will need to be extremely quick in reaching the right conclusions while maintaining accuracy. Colleges like JBIMS and SIMSREE have cutoffs as high as 99.99% or 150+ marks, leaving little room for error.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

In this section, the spotlight will be on your comprehension and language skills. In the reading comprehension part, your understanding of the passages and ability to draw out ideas from the text will be critical.

This is the section where most students end up losing marks due to sheer negligence. Overconfidence in their verbal ability can leave them confused between the different closely related MCQ options for each question. It’s better to practice enough, grasp the right method to approach each question, and write mocks.

Read through the entire syllabus carefully. If needed, print it out and stick it on your room wall. Cover each topic thoroughly and top it off with plenty of practice mock tests. For those who don’t have access to the right content, they can sign up for the IMS CET Self-Learning Program, which includes 80+ hours of concept videos, 20+ hours of masterclasses, 20+ SimCETs, and 2 one-on-one sessions with an experienced mentor.
