Christ University Entrance Test 2023 – BBA Analysis

The Christ University ET analysis is based on the first hand experience of students who appeared for the entrance test. The Analysis will provide useful insights about the exam, such as the types of questions asked, good attempts, difficulty level, and expected cutoff. 

The user interface was friendly, and no students complained about difficulties during the test. As expected, the questions were jumbled, and there was no sectional time limit. For the first time, the test had an on-screen calculator, which was less useful given the nature of the easy questions that were tested in the test. Also, interestingly, most questions had four options but some questions also had five options. 

The sectional break-up was as follows:

The marking scheme was +1 for every correct answer and -0.25 for every incorrect one. 

English Language, Comprehension Skills, Verbal Reasoning

This section was similar to last year, with an increased number of questions based on Question tags, and fewer questions were recorded in Vocabulary than last year. There was one RC passage of about 350 words, and as usual, all four questions were spread across the paper. There were nine questions on Vocabulary, which tested synonyms, antonyms and one-word substitution. Bearing one question, the rest of other questions on Vocabulary were easy. Five of the eleven grammar questions were based on Question tags, and six were based on error detection. All the grammar questions were straightforward. Four questions on Verbal Reasoning covered questions based on Inference, Assumption and weakens the argument type questions. 

Overall this section was Easy to Moderate, and a good attempt would be around 20-22 out of 28 questions.

Quantitative Aptitude

This section threw some surprises with fewer Arithmetic questions and more Geometry questions. 

There were nine Geometry questions, three each on co-ordinate geometry, mensuration and basic geometry figures. Except for one co-ordinate geometry question, the others were easy to moderate with some calculations in a couple of questions. There were five questions on HCF & LCM and five on Venn Diagram and Set Theory. The HCF & LCM questions were easy except for one where the product of two numbers and their HCF was given, and one was supposed to find the number of pairs that satisfy the condition. All the questions on Venn Diagram and Set Theory were easy. Also, there was one easy question each on Partnership, Permutation & Combination, Time & Work and Stocks. The question on Time & Work was reported as ambiguous as there were no correct options, and the one on stocks was a simple application of an equation. 

Overall this section was Easy to Moderate, and a good attempt would be around 17-19 out of 23 questions.

Reasoning

This section also threw some surprises with no questions on the arrangement and blood relation. Nine of the twenty-four questions in this section were based on odd one out – word-based, number-based, odd one out in the series, and analogy-based. There were six questions on the series, five based on the number series and one on the alphabet series. There were three questions on directions, five on miscellaneous reasoning, and one on Visual Reasoning. All the reasoning questions were easy except for the Visual Reasoning and alphabet series. 

Overall this section was Easy, and a good attempt would be around 19-21 out of 24 questions.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

There were 2 DI caselets with four questions each; one was based on tabular data where frequency and number of workers were given, and the questions were based on modal class, median class, and relative frequency. All questions were easy except for one question, which was ambiguous. The other set was based on a pie chart where the details were given in the form of degrees, and here again, one question didn’t have the correct answer among the options. The other seven questions were based on statistics, testing the concept of percentile, interquartile range, first and third quartile and basic concept of averages. These questions were easy, provided one knew the concepts. 

Overall this section was Moderate as, firstly, there were two ambiguous questions, and secondly, some statistics questions were lengthy. A good attempt would be around 8-10 out of 15 questions.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

This section was Moderate to Difficult as out of twenty-one questions, eighteen were based on static GK. The static GK questions had seven questions based on the concept of science and five questions on the author of the book or autobiography. The other questions were based on the bookers’ prize, road transport, Forbes 2013 list, dates, and definitions. 

A good attempt would be around 10-12 out of 21 questions.

Fundamental Accounting

This section had a few straightforward questions and a couple of questions based on arranging the correct sequence of events. 

A good attempt would be around 6-7 out of 9 questions.

Overall Analysis

The overall difficulty of the test was Easy to Moderate, with an attempt of 80-85 questions out of 120 questions, and having an accuracy of 85-90% would be considered a reasonable score.
