Factors that impact the CLAT cutoff marks in 2024 

CLAT 2024 cutoffs are determined by the consortium of NLUs based on the following factors:

  1. Total number of applicants 
  2. Number of students who qualified for the exam. 
  3. Total number of seats available. 
  4. Previous year cutoff 
  5. Category 
  6. Difficulty level of the paper. 
  7. NLU preferences given by the candidates 
  8. Marks and rank obtained by the candidates 
  9. Seats offered by the NLUs. 
  10. Reservation policy of NLUs. 

 

Expected CLAT 2024 cutoff with few changes 

 

This year’s CLAT exam had a few changes: 

 

  1. The total marks for CLAT 2024 were revised from 150 to 120. 
  2. The overall difficulty level of the exam was reported to be lower than last year. 
  3. The previous year’s trends, too, are expected to impact the expected cutoff of CLAT 2024.

New NLUs70-75The cutoff for low-ranked and new NLUs was previously around 45-50% of the total marks. The cutoff for this year is expected to be 60% or 70 points.

 

CLAT 2024 expected cutoff highlights:

  1. An estimated cutoff range for securing admission in the leading 3 NLUs will be 90+. 
  2. If the candidate aims to secure a spot in the top 5 NLUs, the estimated CLAT cutoff will be 85+. 
  3. It is recommended that the candidates should aim for an entrance exam score of 70+ if they are interested in gaining admission into any NLU.

While the candidates’ first preference is NLUs, they should keep in mind that there are other government as well as private colleges that accept CLAT scores. Currently, 60+ private colleges are participating in CLAT 2024 such as Law College, Dehradun, Mody University, Asian Law College, and Xavier Law School, Xavier University.
