In an effort to standardise the ultra-competitive DU admission process, the University shifted from a merit-list-based approach to the CUET or Common University Entrance Test.

Standard eligibility criteria for the DU UG programs
The standard admission criteria is as follows:
- The applicant must pass the 12th standard from a recognized board and school.
- There are no age restrictions in place for CUET or DU admission process.
- Students with a one-year gap after the 12th are also eligible to apply.
- Students must choose CUET subjects according to the specific course or program they want to apply to.
- The eligibility criteria have three categories:
- One language paper is compulsory.
- Candidates must meet minimum eligibility criteria as specified by the university and program.
- Three domain subjects are compulsory unless otherwise specified.
