SET Exam Analysis 2025: The first round of the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) 2025 was conducted on May 5, 2025. Here’s a comprehensive analysis of the test with section-wise insights.
The test followed the exact sectional pattern released by Symbiosis and remained true to the prescribed syllabus. All the topics and question types were well-aligned with the IMS courseware and SimTests. Students who diligently took the SimTests and solved the exercises in the course materials found the test very easy.
Candidates were required to attempt 60 questions in 60 minutes, with NO negative marking. As expected, there were NO sectional time limits, allowing students the flexibility to move freely between sections based on their strengths and strategy.
The exam was conducted smoothly across all centres, with No reported technical issues or interface-related difficulties. The user interface was intuitive and stable, ensuring a hassle-free experience for candidates.
Compared to the previous year, SET 2025 Round 1 was slightly easier, offering a well-balanced mix of questions across the four core sections. While most candidates rated the overall difficulty as Easy to Moderate, the General English section stood out as the easiest.

SET Exam Analysis 2025: General English
This section can be rated as very easy, with none of the questions being tricky, and students could attempt all questions with confidence.
This year, a poem comprehension question was tested, unlike last year. It featured a short four to five-line poem, accompanied by a single, straightforward question that tested the identification of a figure of speech
5 Vocabulary questions were asked, most of which were straightforward and featured commonly known words. Key question types included:
- A contextual vocabulary fill-in-the-blank.
- A one-word substitution question
- A question on the identification of the correct synonym of a word in a sentence.
- There were also two questions on idioms and phrases, both easy and based on commonly used expressions. These tested the correct contextual usage of the idioms.
As expected, Grammar remained a significant focus area with 8 questions. Notable question types included:
- Three ‘spot the error’ questions, one of which tested punctuation.
- Three fill-in-the-blank questions assessing usage of conjunctions and prepositions.
- One question each on:
- Tense usage
- Articles usage
- Question tags (identifying the sentence with the correct tag)
- Compound word formation
Overall, the section was highly scoring for students with a solid foundation in grammar and basic vocabulary.
SET Exam Analysis 2025: General Knowledge
This section featured a balanced mix of Static and Current Affairs questions, with the overall moderate difficulty level. However, 2–3 questions stood out as particularly challenging.
Approximately 7 questions were based on Static GK, and around 9 questions were drawn from Current Affairs, many of which were recent and had been widely reported in the news. The easy questions provided scoring opportunities for well-prepared candidates who had revised the IMS GK Compendium and would have found many questions familiar.
SET Exam Analysis 2025: Quantitative Aptitude
The section was largely Arithmetic-focused and could be rated as easy, although a few questions tested conceptual clarity and speed.

- 4 questions combined from Averages, Alligation, Ratios, and Proportion
