What is the Delhi University Eligibility Criteria for CUET?

Ranked thirteenth by the NIRF, Delhi University is one of the most sought-after institutions in India. And that fact becomes even more apparent when you learn that DU received over 6.5 lakh applications last year alone. With 64 colleges under its banner, many of which are renowned globally, students from all walks of life flock to this university, pursuing various courses ranging from the pure sciences to humanities disciplines. 

In an effort to standardise the ultra-competitive DU admission process, the University shifted from a merit-list-based approach to the CUET or Common University Entrance Test. 

This shift has changed the various eligibility criteria that students need to fulfil to gain admission to their preferred course and college. Delhi University eligibility criteria for CUET

The first step to decoding the eligibility criteria is understanding how the exam pattern has evolved.

Standard eligibility criteria for the DU UG programs

The standard admission criteria is as follows:

  • The applicant must pass the 12th standard from a recognized board and school. 
  • There are no age restrictions in place for CUET or DU admission process. 
  • Students with a one-year gap after the 12th are also eligible to apply. 
  • Students must choose CUET subjects according to the specific course or program they want to apply to. 
  • The eligibility criteria have three categories:
  1. One language paper is compulsory. 
  2. A minimum of 30% is required in the language paper unless specified otherwise. 
  3. Three domain subjects are compulsory unless otherwise specified.

Important note – Admission preference will be given to students who opt to take the test in the specific language they wish to pursue. Only if seats still remain vacant will the candidates who chose any language be chosen.

Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
