Analysis of Sections:

Section I:  English Proficiency

This section comprised 30 questions, out of which 10 were RC questions (2 passages). Of the 10 RC questions, five were easy, four were of moderate difficulty and one was difficult. One of the RC passages was about 400 words long (Description of a Tai Chi exercise – Push Hands) while the other was 500 words (Financial implications and environmental opportunities arising as a result of Covid-19). Most of the questions in this section were of easy to moderate level. Overall, this section was similar to last year’s test.

A good score for this section would be 24-25 and suggested time allocation for this section would have been  35-40 minutes.

Section II: Mathematical and Logical Reasoning

The questions on arithmetic were easy and all of them should have been attempted. Some of the questions were complete sitters. Out of the 8 DI questions, 4 were standalone ones with individual graphs, and there were 2 sets of 2 questions each. The DI questions were of easy level as well. Overall, this section was a bit difficult as compared to last year’s test.

The breakup of the questions was as follows:

TopicsNo. of QuestionsLevel of Difficulty
Quantitative Ability24
Numbers
(Numbers, LCM)
22 Easy
Arithmetic(Percentage, Profit & Loss, Average, Ratio & Proportion)119 Easy,2 Medium
Geometry
(Quadrilaterals, Mensuration, Trigonometry)
32 Easy,1 Medium
Modern Math
(Statistics, Probability, Logarithm)
64 Easy,2 Medium
Sequences and series  (Series completion)22 Easy
Data Interpretation6
Table-based ( 2 sets of 3 questions each)63 Easy,3 Medium

By allotting 35-40 minutes to this area, one should have ideally solved at least 24-26 questions correctly and marked the answers to the remaining, as there was no negative marking.A good score for this section would be 25-26

Section III: General Awareness

This section comprised 40 questions, each carrying 1 mark. There were 12 Static GK  questions and 28 current affairs questions. There were around 5 questions on international affairs and 32 were related to national events. 3 questions were related to miscellaneous topics(economics, environmental science). About 12-14 questions were easy, 15-17 were medium and 9-10 were difficult. This section was easier compared to last year’s test.

A score of 20-21 would be a good benchmark. Attempting all GA questions would not have taken more than 15-20 minutes.
