Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2024) is a nationwide test conducted to check the technical reasoning of an Engineering graduate.

The exam is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

GATE 2024

GATE 2024 is slated to be conducted by the esteemed IISc Bangalore. The official exam notification is expected to be released by the college during the last week of July or early August. Post that, aspiring candidates can complete their registration process and begin their prep.

GATE Exam Eligibility

A candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or architecture or a Master’s degree in science, mathematics, statistics, or computer applications to be eligible to take the GATE 2024 exam.

Apart from the regular college, students who appeared in the examination conducted by Professional Societies/Institutions are also eligible to write GATE. Candidates who possess such certification should ensure that the exam conducted by these societies are approved by MoE / AICTE / UGC / UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning

How to Apply Online for GATE 2024

The online application process for GATE 2024 will start after the official exam notification is released by IISc Bangalore. You’ll need to punch in your details, upload the necessary documents, and pay the registration fees to confirm your application. 

Steps to Apply for GATE 2024

  1. Visit the official website as mentioned on the circular. 
  2. Begin your online application after registering yourself and logging in to the website with the enrollment ID sent to you. 
  3. Fill out the application form, upload the necessary documents, and pay the application fee. 
  4. Submit the application and don’t forget to get a print out of the confirmation page for future reference.

The GATE 2024 score is valid for 3 years for taking admission in postgraduate programme and also for PSU’s selection as per the recruitment notification.

GATE Exam Benefits

Admission to postgraduate programmes:

All the IITs, NITs, and other universities in India accept the GATE score for admission to postgraduate programmes in engineering, science, and technology. The GATE score is an important requirement for enrolment in esteemed postgraduate programmes including the M.Tech, MS, and PhD programmes with a monthly stipend of Rs. 12000.

For the fellowship program in management offered by IIMs and other reputable management schools like XLRI and MDI Gurgaon, the GATE 2024 score is also accepted.

Recruitment in PSUs:

GATE scores are used by all public sector organisations (PSUs), including BHEL, IOCL, HPCL, NTPC, and others, to hire engineers. Many applicants choose to take the exam in an effort to land a job in these organisations because the GATE score is a crucial factor in hiring decisions.

Scholarships:

The Ministry of Education, the Government of India, and several other organisations use the GATE score to give scholarships. For individuals who have passed the GATE exam and want to pursue research programmes, several universities and research organisations also offer scholarships.

The GATE 2024 exam will demand preparation, including a well-planned study routine.
