Scoring over 100 in CLAT 2025 hinges on your ability to handle logical reasoning well. Logical reasoning accounts for over 20% of the total weightage. This section is so easy to score on because it is largely based on your reasoning skills and not on external resources. Unlike quaint or legal reasoning, where some degree of theoretical study is required, you only need to hone your inductive and deductive reasoning in logical reasoning. It’s not about rote memorization, but application, speed, and logic. With a little practice in the right direction, you can ace this section on your way to topping 100 marks. And to get you there, we’ve compiled this list of CLAT logical reasoning preparation tips for 2025, sourced directly from our top mentors.

  3. How adept are you at identifying patterns and using logic to reason your way to the right answer.
  4. How clearly understand the premise of the passage and whether you can use the same premise to reframe new arguments.
  5. Are you able to draw conclusions from the passage and reapply them in differing contexts?
  6. Can you pick out analogies, syllogisms, inconsistencies, and equivalents?

CLAT logical reasoning preparation tips 2025 – Different types of questions

These are the different kinds of questions that you might encounter in CLAT Logical Reasoning 2025:

Syllogisms

Syllogisms are logical arguments largely consisting of three parts – a major premise, a  minor premise, and a conclusion.

The major premise states a general rule to be followed. The minor premise states a specific case falling under the purview of that rule. Lastly, the conclusion is a statement that can be rationally drawn from the two premises.

Analogies

Analogies are comparative statements that draw on the similarities and differences between the two subjects. To answer these questions, you must be able to visualise the subjects and bring out the commonalities.

Data Sufficiency

Data sufficiency questions can be a bit tricky. These questions ask you to determine whether a set of data is enough to get to the required conclusion. It’s usually two statements followed by a conclusion. You’ll be asked to see whether the statements are enough to come to that specific conclusion or not.

Data Interpretation

These questions are aimed at assessing if you can read, interpret, and translate data to make sense of it and draw insights. The paper will present you data in various formats – bar graphs, Venn diagrams, pie charts – and ask you inference questions. Some of your basic maths skills might also be tested here.

Problem-Solving

You’ll be presented with a problem statement. You need to decipher the inputs provided, the questions asked, and the way to get there. These problems usually use a little tricky language leaving it up to you to crack it. Your theoretical grasp needs to be strong enough to validate your application skills.

CLAT logical reasoning preparation tips 2025 – How to score well?

  1. Most books that are recommended for CLAT logical reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal) contain hundreds of types of questions of widely varying difficulty levels. Not all of them are meant for a CLAT aspirant. That’s why it’s so important to first understand the syllabus and pattern of CLAT Logical Reasoning 2025.

We’ve recapped the entire syllabus, pattern, and types of questions above. Once you understand them well enough, you’ll be able to weed out the questions that are not relevant to you and focus, instead, on the important ones.

2. Now that you know what you have to study, it is time to gather the right material. You can follow YouTube channels that impart free tips, buy textbooks that can help you self-study, or join a coaching program.

We recommend investing in Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal to boost your self-study sessions. You should follow YouTube channels such as IMS Get.Set.Law, LegalEdge, and LawWallah share free preparation strategies for all the CLAT sections, including logical reasoning. For dedicating coaching classes, IMS Get.Set.Law has Exclusive Live Online and Classroom programs that you can check out.

3. With just a few months left for CLAT 2025, most of your focus should be on honing your test-taking skills and strategies. For that, you need to give as many mock tests as possible. Without the right approach, you might end up taking a lot of time to solve the logical reasoning section. You need to learn how to manage your time, increase your speed, and maintain accuracy. Sign up for the IMS Get.Set.Law test series here. It has more than 65 mock tests for all the different law entrances in the country. With 30 proctored SimCLATs, you can benchmark yourself against a national pool of students. You also get access to detailed score analytics and reports to understand where you currently stand. You can customise your prep, shore up your weaknesses, and prioritise harder topics by analysing your SimCLATs.

4. Another key skill to master while preparing CLAT logical reasoning is approximation. Often, we end up in a loop where we spend several minutes coming to the exact answer. But, in most questions, an approximation will do just as well. This will help you save time. Couple approximation with substitution, and you won’t even need to write down anything to get the answer.

5. One way to hone your time management skills is to time yourself, even during self-study. The point is not to be fast all the time but to map out tangible improvements, if any. Over time, you should be able to finish your practice questions faster. This speed will also spill over into your mock tests and then your actual paper.

The CLAT logical reasoning preparation tips 2025 given above will position you perfectly to capitalise on the logic-based objectivity of these questions. With the right strategy, material, and guidance, you’ll easily score full marks in this section.
