The top 10 CLAT colleges in India are NLSIU Bangalore, NLU Delhi, NALSAR University of Law, among others. 1. National Law School of India University, Bengaluru

To secure admission to this Law school the candidates need to secure a rank between 147-462 in the CLAT exam.

1. National Law Institute University, Bhopal

The National Law Institute University is situated in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Established under the National Law School System, it ranks in the list of NIRF Rankings 2025. NLIU admits 125 students every year through the CLAT exam and holds 40% of its seats for its domicile candidates.

NLU Bhopal is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, social justice, and legal education. The college offers a conducive learning environment with modern amenities, well-equipped libraries, and dedicated faculty members. 2. National Law University, Jodhpur

National Law University, Jodhpur, is in Rajasthan. It ranks in the NIRF Rankings of 2025 and offers a decent average package of 15 LPA. This University is recognized by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission of India. This University has no reservation for domicile students and offers 120 seats in the UG integrated program. 3. Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur

HNLU Established in 2003 located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) offers undergraduate and postgraduate law programs.

It is an autonomous Law college under the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. The college ranked 5th in the India Today Rankings in 2022. HNLU also offers good placement opportunities to its students under various reputed companies and firms in the field of Law, some of which are GDS, EY, Trilegal, etc. 

HNLU is one among the oldest CLAT accepting college. This is a residential University and for admission into this University, you need to secure a rank between 425 and 805 in the CLAT exam.

4. Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU), Mumbai:

MNLU Mumbai is one of the newer national law universities. The Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Mumbai, was established in 2014, by Maharashtra State Government under MLNU Mumbai Act. The university is a part of Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) of India. 

Moreover, it has Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with international universities including, L’Universite’ Paris Nanterre and, Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL), Germany to provide student exchange programmes opportunities.

Currently, the law university is operating from its campus at Centre for Excellence in Telecom Training and Management (CETTM). Earlier, it shared campus with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai for the first two years. MNLU Mumbai is developing its own campus on 60 acres of land as allotted by the state government and will be shifting soon.

This NLU is in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and was ranked 21st by the NIRF Rankings in 2023. It is one of the largest Law Universities in India which has a very excellent UPSC and JUDICIARY exam culture along with corporate placements. Most students graduating from here prefer sitting for the Judiciary, and UPSC examinations or want to pursue higher education rather than taking placements.

 

6. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala: 

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law is a public law school in Patiala, Punjab. The school was established by the Punjab Government as a university dedicated to the field of law. The University offers UG, PG and doctorate programmes in Law with over ten specialisations.

The University is accredited with an “A” grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). In 2019, the NIRF ranked RGNUL at the 10th position among law schools in India. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The University also offers placements and internships to all UG and PG students. RGNUL has an Internship and Placement Committee (IPC) to help students guide and plan their internships and placements.
