Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of India’s leading engineering entrance tests, conducted every year for students seeking admissions to M.Tech/M.E. and PhD programs at the top IITs, NITs, and CFTIs. GATE scores are also useful for securing high-profile jobs in leading PSUs. It is a computer-based test conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) at Delhi, Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Madras and Roorkee. This exam is conducted on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)- GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), and Government of India. With around 8 lakh candidates sitting for the exam every year and a low 15% acceptance rate for the top programs, GATE is extremely competitive. Students usually begin preparing for it during their undergraduate degree itself, and take up to two years to complete the preparation. But even during preparation, it is crucial to remain updated with the changes in the GATE syllabus and alter the prep strategy accordingly.
